This is one of the pages from the eigth issue of the "Urban Death Maze" 'zine distributed quarterly by the New York Bike Messenger Association to the messenger community in New York City. The publication ran for over two years and was produced by only myself and Jack Blackfelt with submitted art, photos, stories, articles, and poetry contributed by various other couriers.

Not surprisingly the cyclist in the background photo won the bunny hop competition at the 2000 Cycle Messenger World Championships in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. He not only won by jumping 41 inches high, but he broke the record set two years earlier. Besides the subject matter I enjoy this photo because of the simultaneous timing with the other photographer's flash, which seems to exaggerate the propulsion of the competitor into the air. Along with the background photo I also provided the text for the article.
